The Runner's Handbook

The Only Book You Need If You Run

I started running a year ago with the hopes of running a marathon in 2006. I bought several books, but kept coming back to this one because it covers all aspects of running.

I used Glover’s marathon training program and I’m proud to say I finished the Chicago Marathon a few weeks ago and recovered very well. As I trained, I noticed that I was running longer and faster and commented several times that “the training plan is working”. I chose this plan because it had a long run on Saturday and nothing more than 6 miles during the week. This fit my schedule well and carried me through 26.2 in Chicago.

The book also covers nutrition, selecting shoes and clothes, running in cold and heat, stretching, and injuries. It really was a runner’s handbook as it covered every aspect of running and is a great resource. The only thing I wish it had was pictures of stretches.

As my title says, it’s a bible for runners and I highly recommend picking this up.
